Weekend Roundup

Sunday evening…HOW is it here again?

It doesn’t seem too minutes since I kicked off my work shoes on Friday night with a huge smile on my face!

IMG_4361

Friday was a perfect relaxing evening. I had a bubble bath & then cheekily stole Daniel’s dressing gown for the remainder of the evening!

Saturday morning saw snow, hail & rain hit the Midlands, but we still braved the Great British weather & headed into Birmingham for a French breakfast.

My French toast & Hazelnut Latte went down a treat!

I also picked up a Bubble Tea from Mee Cha which is an absolute must when in Birmingham! I am a tad obsessed, & that’s just with the cute Panda packaging!

Saturday evening saw me celebrating my Dad’s birthday! We ventured into St Paul’s Square in Birmingham for food & drinks. It was a night filled with cocktails, wine, prosecco & yummy food. It’s always lovely to spend an evening with family!

The morning after the night before saw me head out at the crack of dawn & complete the Action Heart 5 mile (8K) run. Action Heart is a cardiac rehabilitation programme & helps hundreds of people each year. It was an honour to take part with 500 other people in my local area! I have never been so cold, nor have I ever ran up so many hills, but I was very happy to finish with a big smile on my face!

The rest of Sunday was a lovely relaxing day! I collected the Sunday papers for Daniel & I & we also watched my Dad open his Birthday presents, which was lovely! I finished the weekend off with a super Sunday Dinner with Daniel’s family!

How was your weekend? I hope you all had a super fun time! x

Save a Life, Give Blood

Give

Giving Blood. Why do it?

With 25% of us requiring blood at least once in our lifetime, it really is a must that we all try & donate! It is one of the most selfless things you can do, which really WILL save lives!

Don’t believe me? Read some amazing stories here!

IMG_3702 IMG_3707

When I found out I had one of the rarest blood groups, B- (only 2% of the population has this blood type), there was no question that I was going to give blood.

I first gave blood 2 years ago & I continue to give today. It’s so easy to give! Head over to the Give Blood website here & find your nearest session at a location best suited to you! You will then receive an appointment to go and give your blood.

blood

The session will take no longer than 15 minutes & the helpful & friendly nurses will put you at ease right away. After you have given your blood sample (during the process you can use your phone, read a book etc as a distraction if you so wish), you will be able to grab a drink & some chocolate/biscuits & you are encouraged to sit & relax here for around 10 minutes before you leave.

Knowing you have done something wonderful really makes you leave your centre with a huge smile on your face. You never know who you could help when giving blood.

If you are able to give blood, I encourage everyone to go & donate!

Weekend Roundup

So, it’s Sunday evening & we find ourselves thinking about work tomorrow.

I’ve had another lovely weekend! Here’s what I got up to!

Friday

Fifty_Shades_of_Grey_1 fifty-shades-of-grey

So Friday saw me spend Valentines Eve with my two best girl friends. We went to see the much anticipated 50 Shades of Grey! There was A LOT of people! We had thankfully booked our tickets in advance & we were not disappointed! We were quite happy to spend our Friday evening with Mr Grey!

IMG_4218IMG_4217

Before the film, we went for pizza, wine & dessert & 2 hours of giggles & gossip later we made our way over to the movie!

IMG_4219 IMG_4210

No movie night is complete without a Pick n’ Mix! The Great British weather was awful on Friday, so it called for a fur & jeans kind of evening! My fur gilet is from H&M & I’m wearing my trusty Topshop Jamie jeans & H&M black polo!

Saturday

IMG_2218  IMG_2795

Saturday afternoon saw me attend a Football game with my Dad. It was the FA Cup here in England & I took my Dad for his Birthday!

IMG_2799IMG_2214

Thankfully, the team that we support (West Bromwich Albion) won 4-0 so we were happy! I had to grab a Costa on the way to fuel my Costa obsession!

Sunday

IMG_4255

Sunday, as you know, is my favourite day. Me & Daniel grabbed the Sunday papers & headed for breakfast at our favourite place, Fig & Favour. See my post on them, here!

IMG_4261

We then got home, got straight into our comfies & watched Films & had a nap! We always try & make our Sunday afternoon’s super relaxed ready for work the next day!

IMG_4245

I love lounging in my Victoria’s Secret tee & my Nike running tights!

Find similar Nike tights (on sale!), here.

I hope you’ve all had a wonderful weekend! I’m already on countdown to the next one!

Coffee Date

How do you get through the working week?

For me, it’s coffee. And Daniel. When I’m able to combine the two, I can get through almost anything.

I’m lucky enough to work 2 minutes away from Daniel, so a lunchtime coffee happens quite often.

IMG_3719IMG_3698IMG_3521

He is my best friend, & there’s nothing better than looking forward to a quick natter about your working morning!

COSTA_ROUNDEL-copy

We love our local Costa Coffee for our lunchtime rendezvous & can safely say that the staff are so friendly & attentive that I look forward to seeing them on every visit!

We could sit here forever, but unfortunately, work calls & an afternoon of business awaits!

Happy Thursday! We’ve almost made it..!

Smile for the Camera

Teeth Whitening?

What is it & does it work?

Me & Daniel went to find out!

We’ve been thinking about it for a while, & with it being January, we thought, what the hell.

With neither of us being smokers, or heavy drinkers, we wanted, and expected to go a few shades whiter.

66598_165046853514912_4016518_n

As we’re both Birmingham based, we found a place in nearby Wolverhampton that catered for our needs.

In comes Marie. Marie was so lovely. She made us feel at ease right away & did our checks and forms both professional and efficiently.

IMG_3909

Firstly, Marie checked what shade our teeth currently were. This is to check how many shades whiter you have gone after having the treatment.

Overall, the procedure lasted 60 minutes. It was broken down into sections, & both me & Daniel experienced no pain, sensitivity or discomfort. For 48 hours after the treatment, you are forbidden to drink tea, coffee, wine, beer etc. & you can only eat white foods. Needless to say, me & Dan nearly died not being able to have our weekend cups of tea!

419348_480401331979461_1790822382_n

After the treatment, Marie then checked how many shades whiter our teeth had become. I had gone an impressive 11 shades whiter, & Daniel an even better 18 shades whiter! Overall, we were very happy with the results!

A top up session is advised every 4-6 months, & we are definitely going to do that in about 6 months time!

If you are Birmingham based and you do fancy having whiter teeth for a special occasion or that summer holiday, then go check out Marie’s salon here!

You can also view their official Facebook Page here.

Keep On Running

keep-running

At the weekend I competed in my 7th competitive race.

Running for me was a way to keep fit & to lose weight, but then, I actually fell in love with it!

IMG_2861

I’ve done everything from 5k fun runs to half marathons. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes, running is the LAST thing I want to do, but I love the buzz that you get when finishing a race. It feels good to push yourself.

The race that I took part in on Sunday was a local cross country race.  It was held in Mary Stevens Park in Stourbridge at 10:30am.

16264375gates57455301376815_41968e08

It was 7k of pure HELL! It was immensely cold & I got covered in mud. The course was through mud, fields full of scary horses & animal poo. Halfway through the race I got very angry at the state of my poor trainers.

IMG_3920

I then looked around and saw the true beauty of the countryside. I was ashamed of my moaning. I am able to run this race. I am able to walk this race if I so wished. I am lucky enough to be here and running on this wonderfully sunny & brisk morning. Those thoughts got me through the duration of the race.

IMG_3917

I then of course came home, got back into my pyjamas & had a lovely snuggle Sunday!

Have you competed in any races? Do you love to run too?

IMG_3592

8am morning Starbucks to start off our day!

900

I had a 9am cut & blowdry with my amazing hairdresser, Laura at Umberto Giannini in Selfridges, Birmingham.

IMG_3569IMG_3572IMG_3573

I then went to my favourite store, Victoria’s Secret, where I found it completely empty! I was like a kid in a candy store! The slogan gym tee’s & this nightshirt made me giggle! (And made me tres hungry!)

IMG_3576IMG_3612IMG_3574

I was a tad naughty & picked up some bits and bobs!

What I’m wearing:

IMG_3587

Coat: Zara (2 years old, worn everyday & still perfect!)

Jeans: Topshop Jamie Jeans

Shoes: H&M Sneakers

Tee: H&M

Statement Necklace: Primark

Bag: Mulberry

Nails: O.P.I Cajun Shrimp

IMG_3605

Whilst having a mooch around Selfridges, I was whisked off for a glass of Moët Champagne at the Balcony Brasserie which is located on the 4th floor of the department store.  I could have stayed there all afternoon!

IMG_3602

All this shopping & champagne drinking made us a little hungry, so we headed off to Wagamama, which is one of our favourite places for a quick pitstop!

I’ve had a truly wonderful day, I hope you’ve all had a fun Saturday!

Operation Fitness 2015!

Christmas is the one time of the year that I like to allow myself to kick back, eat chocolate, and to be honest, be quite lazy! It’s the one time where I can live ‘guilt free’.

Come January, I am ready to start on my fitness again and I always look forward to that first run of 2015!

best-apps-for-runners-walkitnation

I started running 2 years ago and I haven’t stopped since! Running is my favourite way to keep fit and I am in love with my new Nike Flex 2014 Flash Ladies Running Shoes that I picked up in the Christmas sale!

IMG_3218nike-flex-2014-flash-tp_4736436010042777377f

I’m not one for faddy diets. I’m a firm believer in fitness and healthy eating. If you abide by these, then the rest will take care of itself! I am strict Monday to Friday and then Saturday and Sunday is my time to indulge!

148520_140539002661454_140538819328139_186218_6723971_nI love food and I wouldn’t want to completely cut out the things that I love. We get one life and quite frankly, I couldn’t live without biscuits!

I love juicing and eating soups as both of these keep you fuller for longer, and are so tasty! My favourite soups at the moment are the Covent Garden soups; particularly the Skinny Souper Green soup!

I was also given a Nutri-Bullet for my Birthday last year and it’s one of my favourite things! I recommend it to anyone thinking about juicing! They’re great for a quick fix detox!

Nutribullet2Fruit-and-Veg-HeartFruit-and-Vegetable-Smoothies

I’ve been a member of a gym for a couple of years. I like to get there really early in the mornings (about 5.30am!), do my workout, and then leave! I love a good spin class and normally do 2 spin classes a week as well as my runs.

Pure Gym - EdinburghBodies

I know going to the gym isn’t quite a fashion show, but I always think it’s good to look the part! My favourite brand to wear is Nike. H&M also have some amazing running tights. I’m loving the patterned running tights at the moment. I think they add a little bit of fun to your workout!

What is your favourite way to workout? Have you set yourself any fitness goals this year?
